Workshop 4:

Moving with meaning
through yoga : The art
of inspiring children
and looking through
their eyes

Wednesday, July 6, 2016
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Room 4004

Leader:
Lesage, C.

A fresh new way to look at physical activity that engages creatively the whole child, creating body-mind connections and positive social interactions.  A holistic movement approach where educators look with new eyes at how children move in the art of getting out of the way.  Using play, creativity, cooperation, children find meaning in moving as they explore, connect, act creatively through movement, making sense of their world through their bodies/emotions/senses, building a sound foundation of meaningful movement experiences for deeper engagement. PLAY helps children meet their need for autonomy, CREATIVITY helps children meet their need for competence, and COOPERATION helps children meet their need for relatedness.  Increased body/emotion awareness, increased confidence and creativity are some of the benefits of this approach, which ultimately make children feel good, happy and healthy, providing them with tools transferable in their everyday lives.
